Meet Maddi Phelps. I met Maddi at Fort Lewis College, in Durango CO. She grew up in Cortez, and she has such a heart for the Lord.

Several weeks ago, I asked Maddi a few questions:

What is your story?

What/Who inspires you?

What is your biggest dream?

Here's what she has to say.

"I grew up being SUPER shy. The last thing I wanted to do was speak out. I used to say “I’d rather sing in front of 500 people than talk in front of 5.” Which... is still somewhat true haha. But, in these last couple years, God has really pushed me out of my comfort zone. He gave me confidence that I had no idea was possible. Now, I boast (sometimes very loud) because I am victorious through Jesus Christ. I am no longer afraid to be who God made me to be and to share His light and love with the world. In Christ, I am truly living fearlessly in His love for me and I refuse to be shy about it.My biggest inspiration is my mom. She has such a big heart for God and she has always encouraged me to be who God has called me to be my entire life. She reminds me everyday that I am who I am on and for a purpose and to walk in the purpose that God has given me everyday. My biggest dream is to be a speaker and teacher of God's word. I want to live everyday encouraging people and sharing the love of Jesus with my entire being.  I believe that this is the calling He has on my life and I am so excited to see it come to fruition"

One piece of scripture that Maddi would like to share is Romans 8:31-39

"31 What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us? 32 He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things? 33 Who shall bring any charge against God's elect? It is God who justifies. 34 Who is to condemn? Christ Jesus is the one who died—more than that, who was raised—who is at the right hand of God, who indeed is interceding for us. 35 Who shall separate us from the love of Christ? Shall tribulation, or distress, or persecution, or famine, or nakedness, or danger, or sword? 36 As it is written,

  1. “For your sake we are being killed all the day long; we are regarded as sheep to be slaughtered.”

37 No, in all these things we are more than conquerors through him who loved us. 38 For I am sure that neither death nor life, nor angels nor rulers, nor things present nor things to come, nor powers, 39 nor height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God in Christ Jesus our Lord. " Romans 8:31-39

Maddi is a wonderful example of someone who would like to follow and serve the Lord with her who she is and hopes to become. It is very evident that she cares about glorifying the Lord with the gifts that he has given her. Thank you so much, Maddi, for the Light that you are in this world!

"You were made on purpose for a purpose by God. You are not an accident. You are not too much. You are made perfect through Christ Jesus. Walk in victory, sister! God is for you, so no one can be against you! You are so loved and adored by the One who created the entire universe. Abide and rest in that knowledge" -Maddi Phelps
